SKETCH BOOK ASSIGNMENTS
Intended use: Sketch Book Assignments will be due every other Friday, at the beginning of class. Besides sketches, your sketch book will be used for notes, references, and as a folder for assignments, these will be glued in to your sketch book. Please bring your sketch book every day to class.
Turning in Assignment: Dog tag (Fold corner), post-it note, or fold open to sketch book assignment. Make sure your name is on the front or back page of assignment. Put the Assignment Number in the upper right hand corner.
Late homework: 5 points taken off after the original due date and 1 point per day thereafter. If the assignment is not turned in before the end of the quarter, the grade will result in a 0.
INC Work: You have the option of turning in an in-complete (work that is at least 50% complete) assignment on the designated due date, to then work on it at home and turn it back in for a higher final grade by the end of that Quarter without late penalty points.

1. Composition – Use of space on the picture plane.
2. Value/Shading – 6 values must be used ranging from very light to very dark.
3. Foreground, middle ground, and background – Give a sense of depth.
4. Craftsmanship and Neatness.
5. Effort – Does it appear you’ve spent at least 2hrs. on the drawing, 1hr./week?

Two AWESOME options for your sketch book assignments within each quarter!
During each quarter you will have three - five sketchbook assignments due. You will need to physically turn in your sketch book on the assigned due date, unless you are using one of the two other options below to turn in your sketch book on the assigned due date. You may only use ONE of the two options within EACH QUARTER and notify your teacher you are doing so.
Options:
1. You can take a picture of your drawn sketch book assignment and upload it to instagram and tag "@nwhsart."
2. You can use an art app to draw your sketch book assignment.
It must be an app that requires you to draw or paint within the app. Remember that the same grading guidelines apply even though you are drawing or painting with the technology. You must save the completed sketch as a jpg and EMAIL it to your teacher on the assigned due date.
